Story

For 30 days wild, I will be going for a wild swim everyday in June to raise money for the Avon Wildlife Trust learning team so they can continue their important work engaging young people with nature! Come rain or shine, I will be cycling to rivers and streams near me every day.

Recent studies by the Prince's Trust have shown that young people's mental health is suffering since the pandemic. 1 in 4 of young people report feeling unable to cope. Nature and time outdoors can have huge beneficial impacts to wellbeing and its important that young people have the opportunity and access to nature.

The money I raise from this challenge will be used to allow young people from all backgrounds across the south west can have the opportunity to gain experience, develop new skills, build confidence and improve their wellbeing by enjoying nature and wildlife.

I'll be recording the challenge as I go on my Instagram page @georgecuckoo if you want to follow along :)

Thank you for reading! (and donating ;) )

Supporting

Avon Wildlife Trust Youth Work from Avon Wildlife Trust

Over the last 5 years the Our Bright Future project at Avon Wildlife Trust has worked with over 6,000 young people. We have increased their connection to nature, helped develop skills and experience for a greener economy, improved green spaces for people and wildlife and given those young people the space and voice to act as catalysts for change.

Like many good things this project is coming to an end but with your help the work we do doesn’t have to. The time to act for wildlife and the environment is now and we need your help so we can continue to support young people to lead the way.
